Trent Boult of Mumbai Indians (MI) had some straightforward thoughts after his team's 36-run defeat to Gujarat Titans (GT) in the ongoing IPL 2025. Boult, known for his sharp bowling gave credit to the Titans for taking advantage of the black soil pitch at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Reflecting on the game, Boult said, "Good tactics from the opposition. If you have those options, it makes sense. But I don't think we'll be using it as an excuse."

Boult emphasized that MI had the experience to handle different types of pitches. "There are players in our team who have played all over the country on all kinds of wickets. So, honestly, it was just an off game for us. I thought GT scrapped their way to a good total and showed us how to bowl on that wicket. Full credit to them," he added.

After Gujarat Titans posted a challenging target of 197, Mumbai Indians couldn't quite chase it down finishing at 160/6 in their 20 overs. Boult highlighted the gap between the teams saying, "At the end of the day, they got 36 runs more than us. That's where we fell short. I believe we could have done a bit better. They played smart, taking pace off the ball, which put pressure on us to hit big shots while also dealing with the scoreboard pressure."

Boult also touched on the importance of fielding, which he felt was lacking in the game. "Fielding is such a crucial part of the game. I felt we weren't sharp enough; a catch here, a saved boundary there—it all adds up. Maybe we left 20 or 30 runs out there. But now, we need to keep our heads up and focus on what's ahead."
