Chennai Super Kings (CSK) has carved a legacy in the IPL with their distinct style, strategic team-building, and undying loyalty to their players. Known for their ‘whistle podu’ fan base and consistent performances, CSK stands as one of the most successful franchises in IPL history.

Chennai Super KingsHeading into the IPL 2025 mega auction, they retain five stars, including Ruturaj Gaikwad and their stalwart captain MS Dhoni. With INR 55 crores in hand and an RTM card to utilize, CSK will be looking at bringing back a familiar face to add firepower to their lineup. Here’s a look at three players CSK might target through the RTM card:

1. Devon Conway

CSK's trusted overseas opener, Devon Conway, could be the top candidate for their RTM option. Known for his cool demeanor and rock-solid batting, Conway is one of the candidates, CSK might target through RTM. In his two IPL seasons with CSK, he scored 924 runs at an impressive average of 48 and played a pivotal role in their 2023 title triumph.

Unfortunately, he was ruled out of the IPL due to injury and his absence was a significant blow, as the franchise fell short of playoff qualification by finishing fifth on the table. CSK will be keen to bring back Conway and anchor their top order. Conway scored 924 runs in 23 appearances in the IPL including nine fifties at a strike rate of 141.3.

2. Rachin Ravindra

Rachin Ravindra is a rising star in the world of cricket, and his recent performances make him a desirable pick for any IPL team. His fearless batting in India and standout performances in the World Cup 2023, where he scored 578 runs, have put him in the limelight. 

At just 24, Ravindra brings a blend of youthful energy, temperament and versatility to the table that CSK may find too good to pass up. His skillset makes him a perfect prospect to lead a future core for CSK. On top of that, he can be the game-changer with both bat and ball. He mustered 222 runs in 10 games in the IPL including a fifty.

3. Deepak Chahar

Deepak Chahar is no stranger to CSK fans. He was purchased at a whopping INR 14 crores in the 2022 auction and was once CSK's most expensive Indian buy. As a powerplay specialist with the ability to swing the ball upfront and a pinch-hitting option down the order, he  CSK's title wins in 2018 and 2021.

Despite facing a series of injuries in recent seasons, his recent five-wicket haul in the Ranji Trophy demonstrates his form and fitness. Since Chahar has been associated with the franchise for many years, it could very well tempt CSK to use their RTM to bring back this seasoned campaigner in an attempt to bolster their bowling attack.
