Shadman Islam raises his bat on reaching half-century[/caption]
Shadman injured himself while fielding during West Indies' chase of 395 on day four. He was taken out of the field. For the most part of the first Test in Chattogram, he was positioned close around the batsmen.
On the day before the start of Dhaka Test, Bangladesh Cricket Board announced that Shadman would be missing.
"Bangladesh opening batsman Shadman Islam has been ruled out of the second and final Test against the West Indies," a BCB release stated.
"Shadman has been making a good recovery from the hip injury incurred during an awkward fall while fielding on day four of the first of the two ICC Test Championship matches. However, the BCB Medical Team has suggested resting him for the second Test until he is fully fit to resume playing.
