Former Chennai Super Kings' player Ravichandran Ashwin, on his official YouTube channel advised the CSK team management to retain certain players ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction.
Ravi Ashwin and MS DhoniThe premier off-spinner who represents Rajasthan Royals in the IPL urged CSK to invest heavily on three bowlers and a foreign batter in the forthcoming mega auction.
Furthermore, he highlighted that he will retain MS Dhoni as a normal capped player and not as an uncapped player. According to him, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ravindra Jadeja, Shivam Dube, Matheesha Pathira, MS Dhoni and Sameer Rizvi are the players whom CSK should retain.
"I’ll give a fresh perspective. I will retain Rutu (Ruturaj), Jaddu (Ravindra), Dube, Pathirana and Dhoni. I’ll retain Dhoni as a normal capped player, not as an uncapped player. I’ll retain these five," Ravi Ashwin said on his YouTube channel.
The RR player is also pretty much curious about a talent like Sameer Rizvi and wants CSK to retain him as well in the auction. "I will get Sameer Rizvi as my sixth retention," Ashwin said.
“You get Pathirana as a point of difference (with the ball). The batting looks sorted as well. Ruturaj Gaikwad at the top, Dube in the middle order. Jadeja is a left-arm spinner, so your eight overs are already covered. By retaining Sameer Rizvi, your future looks sorted as well. He batted brilliantly in the UP league. He’s very talented, just like Nitish Reddy. So you go to the auction and buy three bowlers and a foreign batter," Ashwin added.
CSK failed to qualify for the playoffs in the last season. The five-time IPL champions finished fifth on the points table under Ruturaj Gaikwad's captaincy. They were close to making it to the fourth spot but lost to RCB in the must-win encounter in the group stage.
