I think our team has a very good chance in this World Cup: Shakib

17 crore people of Bangladesh have very big dreams about the 2023 ODI World Cup. This year's team is considered to be the best World Cup team in the history of Bangladesh in terms of experience and performance. Shakib Al Hasan, the team's best cricketer, is also hopeful of doing well in the World Cup.
The Tigers have just won the ODI series against Ireland by 2-0. Being the pre-World Cup series, some experiments have been conducted in this series as well. Some things worked, some didn't. However, Shakib believes that whoever plays in the World Cup will do well.
Shakib Al Hasan faced the media at an event in London, England. There, Shakib spoke about the World Cup. He said, "Actually, now everything is at the experimental stage. The mistakes that are happening here or the good things that are happening, they will probably be fixed by going to the World Cup or the Asia Cup. We don't have many matches ahead of us. I am sure the coaches and captain think very well about these. It would have been better if it was a little better somewhere.”
Shakib added, “I am sure that no team leader, team chief ever wishes bad for his team. Decisions can be wrong. If we actually talk after the results, it might be wrong. Decisions are made first, results come later. It's a bit complicated. I am sure the coach, the captain, they will all think well (of the team). When we go to the World Cup, the best combination will actually be made depending on the opponent, the conditions. In some fields four pacers can play, in some fields, two pacers can play, in some fields six bowlers may be played, in some fields five bowlers will be enough.”
The last 2019 ODI World Cup is memorable for Bangladesh because of Shakib. Shakib fought alone for Bangladesh in that event with an extraordinary all-round performance in bat and ball. The team performance was somewhat marred by the failure of the rest. However, Shakib is hoping to do well in this World Cup as well. This year's World Cup will be somewhat 'challenging' - he said that too.
“I think we have a very good team. In terms of experience, we are probably between 1-2 in terms of matches. Our performance is getting better now, the balance is better. I think our team has a very good chance in this World Cup. Conditions are fair for all teams in ICC tournaments. We have to do everything well, get good results. Challenging but I'm optimistic we'll do well,” Shakib further said.
