Bangladesh opener Imrul Kayes thinks that he’s one of the unluckiest cricketers in international cricket as he doesn’t get enough opportunity to show his skill in national team. I think there is no unlucky player like me in world cricket: Imrul

Imrul, generally known as ‘fighter’, always face ‘in and out’ in national team. But when the team needed him, he always delivered in the big stage. There’s an example just couple of years ago in Dubai in Asia Cup. Bangladesh were struggling in the tournament, especially at the opening slot. So, the board decided to fly Imrul in Dubai in the middle of the tournament to cover up the failure. And as always, Imrul showed his value in big stage. He scored an unbeaten 72-run innings and at the end that was the determining one as Bangladesh won the match just by 3 runs against Afghanistan. Imrul also shows his disappointment about his national team selection in a Facebook live session with Cricadda. “Every cricketer wants to play in national team and to serve for long time. When I debuted, I was much young. The situation of Bangladesh team isn’t like now. We struggle a lot then. “Now there’s much competition. But also in this era, I also contribute to the team. But still I was in ‘in and out’ in the national team. And then it’s difficult for a player to give 100 percent performance,” Imrul said. Imrul thinks that if he plays regular in the national team, then he will gain some records of his own. “I think if I’m regular, my career will be much better. There will be more runs and records. But in ‘in and out’, it’s difficult to perform consistently,” the left-handed opener said. The 33-year old Imrul believes that he’s the unluckiest one but if he gets chance again, he’s ready to perform with heart and soul.

“I think in world cricket there is no unlucky player like me. There are some but among them I’m the one. I’m unlucky obviously. If I was in the regular team, my career might have been longer.

“But if I get the opportunity now, I’ll try to perform. And I always prepare myself to play in the national team,” Imrul said. Imrul has played 39 Tests, 78 ODIs and 14 T20Is for Bangladesh, scoring 1797,2434 and 119 runs respectively.
