Australia T20 captain Mitchell Marsh has praised Tanveer Sangha for the youngster's ability to keep things straightforward, saying that it bodes well for his future success.

As Adam Zampa was unable to play due to sickness, Sangha was given the nod to make his T20I debut at the eleventh hour. Sangha had only arrived in Durban a few hours before, or that this would be his first time donning an Australia cap. Because he exuded such composure as he prepared to bowl in the first T20 International against South Africa. The 21-year-old proved himself with a bowling figure of 4-0-31-4 in his debut match.

"I don't think Tanveer's heart rate gets over 100. He was in the gym when he found out, he was pretty chilled and said he's ready to go. It appears he keeps it very simple which will hold him in good stead for top-level cricket,” Marsh said. "His demeanour is fantastic. Just really proud of him. To come in and have a debut like that was brilliant to see. He's got a great smile so hopefully we see it for many years to come."

“It was great to see Tanveer. He’s a ripping young kid. He’d got off the plane yesterday and wasn’t playing until this morning. He was very calm .... What we’ve seen him do in the Big Bash, tonight was no different. So it’s great to see someone like him, his mindset and not being, I guess, nervous to come out here. I mean, I’m sure he was nervous but you couldn’t tell. The way he bowled was outstanding and as for everyone else they all contributed,” added Marsh.

Even though Sangha had a great game, Marsh was named Player of the Match for his 92 off 49 balls, which helped Australia reach 226. In the end, they bowled out the home team for 115. The second T20I starts on September 1.
