Oman demolished UAE by 5 wickets to become the table topper of group B. Oman chased down 228 given by UAE in the match number 8 of ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers 2023 on Wednesday (June 21).

Earlier the day, after winning the toss Oman chose to bowl first. Being put into bat first, UAE lost both of their openers inside 3 overs. WK batter Arvind made a sedate 49 off 84 deliveries while Rameez Shahzad scored a fine 38 off 51. After their partnership the middle order collapsed as Basil Hameed and Ali Naseer couldn’t do anything to the occasion. But Aayan Khan's late blitz gave UAE the tempo in the innings. Aayan Khan scored a quick-fire 58 off 52 deliveries to post a moderate total on the board. UAE scored 227-8 after 50 overs.

Chasing the total, Oman lost their openers against a breath taking spell from Junayed Siddique. He took the wicket of both of the openers and brought UAE in the game. But a 100 run stand between Aqib Ilyas and Sohaib Khan spoiled the party of UAE. Aqib Ilyas scordf a fine 53 off 75 deliveries. His partner Sohaib Khan was not out till the end and he scored 52* off 70 deliveries.

Ayaan Khan at the end was on a rampage mood and was smacking the UAE bowlers at ease. He raced to 41 off just 36 deliveries. While another middle order batter Mohammad Nadeem finished the game off nicely with his powering 50 off 57 deliveries.

Oman won two of the games they've played till now and reached to the top of Group B dethroning the Lankan lions. Sohaib Khan won the man of the match award for his brilliant batting throughout the innings.
