He's a complete package: Morkel praises Jadeja as India's X-factor
Jadeja, who dismissed Bangladesh's Khaled Ahmed to bring their innings to a close at 233, reached this milestone in just 74 Test matches, making him the fastest Asian cricketer to achieve the double and the second-fastest globally, behind only Ian Botham, who did it in 72 matches.

India bowling coach Morne Morkel has hailed Ravindra Jadeja as a "complete package" after the all-rounder reached a historic milestone during Day 4 of the second Test against Bangladesh in Kanpur. Jadeja claimed his 300th Test wicket, joining an elite club of only three Indian cricketers to have achieved the double of 3000 runs and 300 wickets in Test cricket, a feat previously accomplished by Kapil Dev and Ravichandran Ashwin.
"For me, he's a complete package," Morkel praised. "He bats, he bowls, he's a guy in the field that can make magic happen. Always a guy that you want in your team, and he's done that for so many years for India."
Jadeja is also the seventh Indian bowler to claim 300 Test wickets, joining the ranks of legends like Anil Kumble, Kapil Dev, and Ashwin. His remarkable consistency with both bat and ball has cemented his position as one of India's finest all-rounders.
Morkel, a former South African fast bowler and now India’s bowling coach, further expressed his admiration for Jadeja’s ability to contribute across all aspects of the game. "He's an X-Factor player. He bats, bowls, and can make magic happen in the field," Morkel added. "To join the 300 Test wickets club is a special achievement. He works hard on his game, and that’s what you want to see."
Jadeja's 300th wicket came in a Test match that saw more than two and a half days washed out due to rain, yet his performance helped India gain crucial momentum as they aim for victory.
India's bowlers, led by Jadeja, were instrumental in restricting Bangladesh to a modest 233, with key contributions from fast bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj.
Morkel also praised India’s preparation and recovery processes, noting how professional the team is in all aspects. "It's quite special to be in this environment. Excited to see how they operate. I come to serve these players, share knowledge, share experience."
