A new twist takes turn in the Chandika Hathuurusingha-Sri Lanka saga as the head coach has been asked to step down after the Bangladesh series. SLC Secretary Mohan de Silva has written to Hathurusingha asking him to resign.
The resignation of Hathurusingha looked like only a matter of time after a disappointing show in the World Cup. But he continued to be in the position and still currently the head coach. But now it looks like it's his last series as a SL coach.
Things get more interesting now as rumours circulating that Hathurusingha is likely to become the head coach of Bangladesh again. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) will announce the short-list of the coaches on 27th and if Hathurusingha makes it to the list, then it won't be too difficult to guess that he's coming back.
Hathurusingha's contract with Sri Lanka ends at the end of this year. He was hoping to stay till the contract expires, but Sri Lanka wants him to step down after a disappointing World Cup.
The three-match ODI series between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will begin on July 26.
