The Karachi Kings have made fast bowler Hasan Ali their vice-captain for the 10th edition of the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL).
The news was posted on the Kings' social media accounts, where they posted an innovative Hasan Ali banner, introducing him proudly as the new vice-captain. The post read: "Hasan Ali proudly assumes the role of the new vice-captain of the #KingsSquad."
Hasan, who came on board last season, was a crucial player with his performances. He became the most successful bowler of Karachi Kings in the ninth season of PSL, bagging 14 wickets. His attacking bowling, his high energy on the field, and his upbeat nature in the dressing room left their mark on the overall environment of the team.
Hasan also attended the recently held captain's conference for the tournament ahead, although David Warner didn't attend as he was taking part in an inter-team practice match.
Hasan has extensive experience as a national captain, having led the team to win the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy in 2020.
The 30-year-old is set to create history: he requires only six more wickets to overtake Wahab Riaz and become the highest wicket-taker in PSL history.
Karachi Kings owner Salman Iqbal said he believed in the choice, describing the franchise as seeing in Hasan a person who is a true spirit of Karachi.
"Hasan Ali is the fighting spirit of Karachi Kings. He is a natural leader by virtue of his passion, talent, and dedication, and we are sure he will deliver in the capacity of vice-captain," he added.
"He was our most dominant bowler last season, and we think his dominance will increase even more with this increased responsibility. Along with the rest of the team, we are committed to taking the PSL trophy back to Karachi."
