Harry Brook will bolster his credentials as an international captain by taking the helm of the Northern Superchargers in this summer's The Hundred.

After being appointed by the new Superchargers coach Andrew Flintoff, 25-year-old Brook will have the opportunity to gain more domestic experience, and he is seen as Jos Buttler's successor as England's white-ball skipper when the new captain comes.

After making his debut in September 2022 against South Africa, Brook went on a Ben Stokes-led tour to Pakistan and New Zealand, where he scored 809 runs in nine innings at an incredible strike-rate of 98.77, with runs of153,87,9,111,89,54, and 186 in a row. During the return series against the Indians, Brook commanded the England Under-19 cricket team in 50-over matches; he had previously toured India with the team.

At the 2018 U19 World Cup, he spearheaded the English attack and ended up scoring more runs than anybody else. His previous leadership experience includes guiding the Under-19 squad during their 2018 World Cup campaign in New Zealand. However, the opportunity to lead Superchargers has been extended to him by their incoming head coach, Andrew Flintoff, who has been an assistant coach with the England white-ball team just recently.

“It's an honour to captain Northern Superchargers, and I'm really excited for it,” Brook said.

He added, "It's always special to play at Headingley and to represent the area, and to do that as captain in the Hundred this year will be extra special."

Test captain Ben Stokes of England, Nicholas Pooran of the West Indies, and Adil Rashid and Reece Topley, who were teammates of Brook's during the last two World Cup campaigns, are all members of the Superchargers squad. The addition of former England opener Jason Roy, who replaces the suspended Brydon Carse, has only served to bolster the situation.
