Former England batter Alex Hales has described the reasons behind choosing the Lanka Premier League (LPL) over Vitality Blast 2024.
Hales was playing for Nottinghamshire in England’s Vitality Blast 2024 which started on May 30. He then joined Galle Marvels in Sri Lanka to play for the first time in his career. He debuted with a blast as he scored 65 runs in his first match.
Hales came to play LPL after playing 8 matches for Nottinghamshire. He says that the long schedule of T20 blast made him chose the LPL. He also shares his desire to play LPL in the upcoming years too as he’s enjoying the tournament very much.
“I missed a few games in the Vitality Blast. It's just the schedule in the T20 in England was just too spread out. I think the tournament is over three months and they just need to sort the scheduling out a little bit in England to make it more accessible. But it gave me a chance to come here and I've really enjoyed it so far. So hopefully I can keep coming in the next few years and, you know, keep playing well and enjoying myself,” Hales said.
The T20 blast started on May 30 and it will continue till September 14.
