Big blow for Lahore Qalanders as Hafeez ruled out of PSL

A shock report emerged on Thursday that Mohammad Hafeez has been issued a show-cause notice from The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) for hiding assets worth Rs 170 million. However, the experienced batsman has denied the reports and claimed that he didn't receive any notice from FBR.

"I am unaware of any notice from the FBR. I have no idea why such a piece of news is being spread. I file my tax returns every year without fail" he said.

According to the reports, FBR are conducting audit from 2014 to 2018. Hafeez did not disclose assets worth about Rs 170 million and details of Hafeez were sought from all banks. Imran Khan, the Prime Minister of Pakistan approved an ambitious tax reforms plan that includes launching of nationwide tax assessment and documentation drive along with survey of immovable properties across the country. FBR's field staff has extended all-out support in this regard but also raised some issues such as the need for taking into account past experiences and the reasons behind the failure of all past documentation drives.
