Pakistan’s head coach, Jason Gillespie, acknowledged that their team had a fair share of responsibility for their 10-wicket loss to Bangladesh in the first Test at Rawalpindi. However, he was also quick to give credit to Bangladesh for their outstanding performance.

Speaking at a press conference ahead of the second Test, Gillespie praised Bangladesh, saying, "Bangladesh played brilliantly in the last Test. That’s cricket."

The former Australian great emphasized that he doesn't intend to apply his personal cricketing philosophy to this situation but rather follow the team’s principles as they prepare for the second Test. "Never said that I wanted to inject an Australian style of cricket. I want to stay authentic to us. We have very skilful players and I want to play to their strengths and I want to play positive cricket. Everybody has their interpretation of being positive. For me it is not about hitting fours and sixes but about showing a good body language," he said.

Expressing his support for captain Shan Masood, Gillespie acknowledged their shortcomings in the first Test, "Shan is a very positive captain, and we want to play to win games of cricket. We showed our intent in the first game; we made the declaration because we wanted to get our opposition into bat. It obviously didn’t quite work out, but full credit to our opposition—they played really well in that first Test match. However, we will look at ways to try and win the game, and that must be how we play. I am very confident that we will have a lot of success by always taking the positive option.”
