India pacer Khaleel Ahmed spoke about his almost five-year break from international cricket after being instrumental in his country's victory against Zimbabwe in the fourth T20 International on Saturday (July 13). With 2/32 in four overs, the left-arm seamer was the most effective bowler in the match.

India thrashed Zimbabwe by 10 wickets in the 4th T20I at Harare Sports Club, Harare. It was an excellent bowling show up from the Indian bowlers, where everyone stepped up and provided crucial breakthroughs to reduce Zimbabwe to 152. In reply, Yashasvi Jaiswal and skipper Shubman Gill's stellar 156-run stand crashed Zimbabwe.

Khaleel Ahmed emphasized the impact of India’s ongoing series against Zimbabwe on his career. “For me this series means everything. Very happy to be part of this dressing room, I was missing it when I was out of the squad. I’m happy to be in the dressing room and perform for my team. I can’t express how I’m feeling right now,” Khaleel told Sony Sports.

When questioned further about if he is taking on the position of Jasprit Bumrah as the team's bowling leader and a senior, Khaleel replied that the group views all players equally and that his main goal as a bowler is to perform responsibly. “We play a lot together. We play together in the IPL as well. We’re all equal but yes I feel it’s my responsibility as I have to bowl the first over and give a good start to the team,” he added.
