The first ODI between Zimbabwe and Afghanistan has been washed out due to persistent rain. Only 9.5 overs of play was possible and Azmatullah Omarzai has rattled through Zimbabwe's half of the side in this short span of time. 

The rain was relentless throughout the day but in the break of rain toss was happened and Afghanistan skipper Hashmatullah Shahidi won the toss and put Zimbabwe to bat first. And the match was reduced to 28-over to each side.

The ball was swinging like a snake and Afghanistan seam all-rounder Azmatullah Omarzai made merry with the new ball. He swung the ball impeccably and got some lateral movement as well. He ran through the Zimbabwe batting order and rattled them down to 44-5 inside 9.5 overs.

Azmatullah Omarzai picked up four wickets, while Allah Mohammad Ghazanfar had one wicket to his name.

Squad update : Rahmanullah Gurbaz has been ruled out of the entire Zimbabwe ODI series due to a quadriceps injury as Mohammad Ishaq has been named as the replacement of Gurbaz. Mujeeb Ur Rahman was rested from the first ODI and it is expected to have him from the next ODI's.

The second ODI is set to be played on Thursday (December 19) in Harare.
