West Indies thrashed Sri Lanka by 8 wickets (DLS method) on Saturday (October 26) to have a consolation victory. Evin Lewis' whirlwind hundred and a swashbuckling fifty from Sherfane Rutherford helped the visitors clinch this victory.

The crucial 88-run partnership helped the West Indies clinch a superb victory. 
Being inserted to bat first, Sri Lanka had a sedate way to start their innings. Avishka Fernando and Pathum Nissanka stitched 81-run opening stand before Roston Chase caught and bowled Avishka. The rain came and the match was then reduced to 23-over each.

After the break, Sri Lankan batters came out all the guns blazing. Wicketkeeper batter Kusal Mendis blasted a quick-fire cameo of 56* off just 22 balls, which compromises 1 six and 9 boundaries. Nissanka too brought up a fifty and scored 56 off 62 balls and helped the hosts get 156 runs on the board.

In reply, West Indies had a horrible way to start their chase as skipper Shai Hope fell to Dishan Madushka after scoring a sedate 22 off 27 balls, while opener Brandon too departed cheaply.

It was then Evin Lewis and Sherfane Rutherford started plundering the Lankan bowlers, smashing them everywhere of the park, with Lewis showed his ultimate prowess and Rutherford too joined the party.

Rutherford hammered unbeaten 50 off 26 balls, while Evin Lewis brought up an incredible hundred [102* off 61] to help the West Indies clinch the consolation victory.

This is West Indies' maiden victory on Sri Lankan soil since 2005 and after 10 consecutive loses in the ODI.
