English women win thriller to capture world title

Before the eyes of a full house crowd at Lord’s English women held their head high in glory snatching the masterpiece title of International Cricket Council. The title of the ICC Women World Cup 2017 deservedly belongs to host England after a tense finish. It was Anya Shrubsole who stole the victory for England claiming 6 wickets in her less than two ball ten over conceding 46 runs. She was adjudged man of the match. The elite right arm medium pacer Anya was the prime reason to thrash India losing last 7 wickets for only 28 runs from the position where the subcontinent giants stood at 191 losing 4 wickets. When Punam Raut and Harmanpreet Kaur batted, it looked like an easy pray for India as they partnered for 95 runs in the third wicket. India’s downfall started when Shrubsole trapped Punam leg before in the 42nd over of the innings. Three of the last six batsmen of India went out for a duck while opener Punam Raut scored highest 86 runs. Earlier in the day, Indian bowlers showed a well-deserved performance bundling out England for 228 runs in their 50 overs under an overcast Lord’s sky. The highest 51 runs was scored by N Schiver. Jhulan Goswami was the best performer with the ball for India taking 3 wickets.
