English county teams have canceled the contracts of almost all foreign cricketers due to uncertainty over the coronavirus situation. Just as cricketers have suffered, so has English cricket. English counties give permission to field two overseas cricketers

However, there are more opportunities for all teams from next season. From 2021, county teams will be able to play two foreign cricketers instead of one. The decision was made by the England board following recommendations from the cricket committee headed by Sir Andrew Strauss. From next season, two foreign cricketers can be included in the county championship and ODI cup XI. There was already a rule to keep two in the T20 blast. At one time two foreign players could play. But in order to give more opportunities to the local emerging cricketers, a rule has been made since 2006 to play just one foreign players. Now they went back to the previous rules. Strauss, chairman of the Performance Cricket Committee (PCC), said in a statement that the county now expects more quality cricket.

“There are clearly long-established benefits for our domestic players to compete against and learn from the best players from across the world in addition to providing high-quality domestic cricket for county members and fans to enjoy.”

County cricket has long been a desired pasture for cricketers outside England around the world. County cricket is considered to be the ideal field for self-enrichment as well as financial gain, education of cricket skills and discipline, professionalism, learning everything. However, with the advent of the franchise T20, the world of cricketers' thinking has changed a lot. Even after that, some realities have become eternal. This is a big opportunity for many foreign cricketers.
