England name squad for New Zealand Test tour, Jacob Bethell earns maiden Test call-up
All-rounder Jacob Bethell has been drafted into the Test squad for the very first time, as a replacement of wicketkeeper batter Jamie Smith.

England have announced squad for the upcoming New Zealand Test tour, which commences from November 28. All-rounder Jacob Bethell has been drafted into the Test squad for the very first time, as a replacement of wicketkeeper batter Jamie Smith.
Jacob Bethell England's regular wicketkeeper batter Jamie Smith is on paternity leave and he'll miss the entire tour. And now the 21-year-old attacking left-handed batter and slow left-arm orthodox bowler, Jacob Bethell has replaced him. He made his England white-ball debut in this summer in both T20I and ODI against Australia.
England's squad for the New Zealand Test tour:
Ben Stokes (Captain), Rehan Ahmed, Gus Atkinson, Shoaib Bashir, Jacob Bethell, Harry Brook, Brydon Carse, Jordan Cox, Zak Crawley,
Ben Duckett, Jack Leach, Ollie Pope, Matthew Potts, Joe Root, Olly Stone, Chris Woakes.
England have lost the last Test series against Pakistan by 2-1. Despite leading the series by 1-0, the England team succumbed to the Pakistan spin duo Sajid Khan and Noman Ali and lost the series by 2-1.
On the contrary, New Zealand are flying in India. The Blackcaps have scripted history as they beat India by 2-0 in the series, this is Kiwis maiden Test series victory in India. Also this is India's first Test series defeat after almost 12 overs and 18 consecutive home series.
The three-match Test series commences from November 28 at Hagley Oval, Christchurch.
