England announce squad for first day-night Test

In recent times, Pakistan are having cricketing actions back into their soil after a number of countries traveled to the country for international assignments. In 2019-20 season, Pakistan hosted Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in all three formats of the game. Last month, the MCC team led by Kumar Sangakkara toured the country. All the matches of the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) are being staged in Pakistan with significant number of international stars participating in the competition that include fifteen English cricketers like Dawid Malan, Chris Jordan and Samit Patel. It is the first PSL to be hosted fully in Pakistan. According to reports revealed, a scheduled tour by the English Lions could pave the way for a full England tour in future. England last toured Pakistan in 2005-06; while the Lions played against Pakistan A in 2015-16 and 2018-19, with all games being held in the UAE. England’s next scheduled tour to Pakistan is in 2022-23, which will comprise three Tests and five ODIs. An ECB spokesperson said, “We welcome the fact that international cricket is beginning to return to Pakistan. Recently, we made a preliminary fact-finding visit at the invitation of the Pakistan Cricket Board along with Cricket Australia and Cricket Ireland. For us this was a first step in assessing the viability of future tours to Pakistan. “All future tour schedules will be announced in due course," he added. Recently after a PSL game, Moeen Ali, playing for Multan Sultans said, “I hope so, inshallah. It’s something that I’m sure they’re talking about. I know other countries are also talking about coming, so hopefully, in the future. It’s great that English players are here. It shows that the guys are keen to come and play here.”
