Ekattor TV receives a legal notice from Mushfiqur Rahim
Recently a report comparing Mushfiqur's obstructing the field issue with fixing was aired on a national television channel. With which there was an angry reaction in the country's cricket arena. Following this, a legal notice was sent to that TV channel by Mushfiqur.

Former captain of the national team and one of the best batters of the country Mushfiqur Rahim has sent a legal notice to one of the leading TV channels of the country for broadcasting news by providing false, fabricated, and international information. Bangladesh Supreme Court lawyer Barrister Shihab Uddin Khan sent this legal notice on behalf of Mushfiqur on Saturday (December 9).
Recently a report comparing Mushfiqur's obstructing the field issue with fixing was aired on a national television channel. With which there was an angry reaction in the country's cricket arena. Following this, a legal notice was sent to that TV channel by Mushfiqur.
The legal notice said, "The allegation and innuendo contained in the report is false and baseless and represent a shameful instance of yellow journalism and the publication of fake news.”
Claiming that Mushfiqur is mentally broken, the legal notice reads, "It is claimed that the report and its publication in the manner aforesaid, where it has been seen, accessed, and downloaded by countless millions throughout Bangladesh and the rest of the world, has lowered our client in the eyes and estimation of right-thinking people, and therefore constitutes criminal defamation punishable under Section 500 of the Penal Code, 1860 and cyber-bullying contrary to Sections 25(1)(Ka), 25(2) and 29 of the Cyber Security Act, 2023, besides entitling our client to proceed against you for exemplary damages as compensation by instituting civil legal action."
The legal notice sought the resolution of 4 issues within 48 hours.
1) Immediately taking steps to remove the offending report from YouTube and all other social media sites where it may have been published;
2) Broadcasting on Ekattor TV an unconditional apology for having broadcast the offending report, stating that it was false and unverified;
3) Issuing a public press release seeking unconditional apology for having broadcast the offending report, stating that it was false and unverified; and
4) Assure our client in writing that the reporter Saiful Rupak has been cautioned to be more careful in future.
