DRS to be used in women's cricket first time in ICC Women's WC 2017

For the first time in the history of women’s cricket, Decision Review System is going to be applied in the upcoming ICC Women’s World Cup, scheduled to commence from 24th of June, 2017. The DRS will be administered in the match between host England and India at County Ground, Derby. All eight teams will face each other in the Round Robin format before the knock out stage of the tournament. The tournament, therefore, will end on July 23. The Decision Review System was first introduced in Test cricket for the purpose of reviewing controversial decisions made by the on-field umpires. DRS was first tested in 2008 in a match between India and Sri Lanka and thereafter officially launched by the International Cricket Council on 24th of November, 2009 during the first Test match between New Zealand and Pakistan. In one day international matches, DRS was first used in 2011 during England’s tour of Australia.
