Former Pakistani leg-spinner Danish Kaneria reckons that the Indian team management should start considering Ashish Nehra as the next T20I coach. The upcoming T20I World Cup is scheduled to be held next year and Danish Kaneria reckons that Rahul Dravid isn't the right coaching material in the shortest format.

Furthermore, the former spinner echoed that the T20 format doesn't really fit Rahul Dravid in the first place since the latter is very slow. According to Kaneria, India didn't play the games with a lot of intent in the T20I format. Recently, India lost to West Indies in the first two games by close margins. 

Danish Kaneria also suggested that Ashish Nehra is the right man to lead Team India forward as far as the T20I setup is concerned. Under the tutelage of Ashish Nehra, Gujarat Titans made it all the way to the final of the IPL 2022 and defeated Rajasthan Royals in the final encounter to win their maiden title in their debut season.

In the subsequent season, the Ahmedabad-based franchise made it to the final once again but lost to Chennai Super Kings. He further highlighted how Ashish Nehra has been very incredibly active in the IPL, constantly communicating with the GT players on the sidelines during the matches.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Kaneria said, "Why is this Indian team not showing enough intent? Hardik Pandya has achieved a lot of success with Gujarat Titians because of Ashish Nehra's presence. India must show more intent in T20Is, and a coach plays a big role in that."

Kaneria emphasized that India should show intent when it comes to T20Is before adding that Rahul Dravid doesn't deserve to be a coach in the T20s since he is very slow. 

"Rahul Dravid, no doubt, was a world-class player, but Dravid doesn't deserve to be a coach in T20s. He is very slow. On the other hand, you see Ashish Nehra constantly do something and pass on messages in the field. I think he should get an opportunity," Kaneria added.
