The Karachi Kings have formally appointed David Warner as captain of the 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL). The Karachi Kings' owner Salman Iqbal was thrilled to welcome Warner into the Kings' family.

The Karachi Kings, the HBL PSL franchise of Pakistan's largest metropolitan city, have formally appointed former Australian batsman David Warner as captain for the next 2025 HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) season. Warner, a feared left-handed hitter and a proven leader, will captain the Kings during what promises to be a thrilling and competitive season.

The Kings recognized Warner's legacy and mentioned his contribution to big leagues like the BBL. Warner's biggest accomplishments, including winning the World Cup with Australia and leading the Sydney Thunder in the BBL, made him a likely choice for the captaincy. The left-handed batsman was the Kings' first-round draft pick in the 2025 PSL Players Draft, which was held in January 2025.

Salman was delighted to announce Warner as the Kings' captain, emphasizing that the veteran's track record as a player and captain aligns well with the Kings' vision.

"We are delighted to welcome David Warner as the new captain to the Karachi Kings family. His track record as a leader and match-winner aligns perfectly with our vision for PSL 10," Iqbal said in a franchise press release on Monday, March 24.

The Karachi Kings selected Warner as the first overall pick in the Platinum category at the PSL 10 Players Draft, held on January 13, 2025, at the historic Hazoori Bagh in Lahore.

The Karachi Kings management expressed their sincere gratitude to last season's captain, Shan Masood, for his invaluable contribution to the team's transformation.

The 10th season of the HBL Pakistan Super League is scheduled to begin on April 11, 2025. The Karachi Kings will play their first match the following day, April 12, 2025. They will face the Multan Sultans at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi, thus beginning their season under the leadership of David Warner.
