The Cricketers Welfare Association of Bangladesh (CWAB) has expressed its support for Shakib Al Hasan amid recent controversies. Following separate statements from several players, CWAB, an organization of both former and current cricketers, has now stood by Shakib, urging sympathy for the star all-rounder.

In a statement signed by CWAB General Secretary Debabrata Paul, the organization said, "CWAB has learned that Bangladesh's former captain and the world’s top all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has been named as an accused in a recent murder case. CWAB, formed for the welfare of former and current cricketers, calls for sympathy towards Shakib Al Hasan as a player."

Highlighting Shakib's significance in Bangladesh cricket, CWAB stated, "There may be discussions and debates regarding Shakib Al Hasan's political involvement. However, CWAB has no stance on any case filed against someone based on specific allegations. CWAB believes that Shakib Al Hasan's importance and necessity in Bangladesh cricket are immense. He played a significant role in Bangladesh's historic victory in the recently concluded Rawalpindi Test. As a player, Shakib has a lot to offer the national team."

The statement also mentioned, "Considering these aspects, CWAB requests that Shakib Al Hasan not be targeted solely for political reasons. Otherwise, the worries and complications related to the case may negatively impact Shakib's cricket performance, potentially leading to the loss of such a talent. This could result in irreparable damage to the country's cricket."

CWAB has expressed hope that the interim government will view the case against Shakib with sympathy. The organization has called for Shakib’s identity as a player to be considered separately and urged for the highest level of sympathy towards him.
