Nicholas Pooran, the explosive wicketkeeper-batter from the West Indies, has etched his name into the record books by breaking Chris Gayle's long-standing record for the most sixes hit by a batter in a single calendar year. Pooran achieved this remarkable milestone during the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2024 match between Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) and St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, held on September 1 at Warner Park, Basseterre, St Kitts.

During this explosive knock, Pooran hit nine sixes, surpassing Gayle's 2015 record of 135 sixes in a year. Pooran now stands at the top of the list with a staggering 139 sixes in 58 T20 matches in 2024, breaking the record in fewer matches than Gayle did.
