The first one day international encounter between India and South Africa in Dharamsala on Thursday may be held in an empty stadium on account of coronavirus scare. Uncertainty over Indian players in Asia XI vs World XI match

Uncertainty over Indian players in Asia XI vs World XI match

India have so far figured out 58 confirmed cases of coronavirus. Match organizers informed that around 40 percent tickets of the picturesque Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium have remained unsold till Wednesday.

"Hardly two-three corporate boxes have been sold out this time,"

said an HPCA functionary. The stadium has have a crowd capacity of 22,000 and has 12 corporate boxes with 20 seats in each of them. Each box costs around Rs 2,00,000 per match. Dharamsala, a popular tourist destination near Tibet are adorned with foreign travelers who are now taking precautionary measures through restricted movements. Even the local Indians are also trying to keep safe spaces from crowd. Weather forecasts ahead of the match are also not preferable as it makes alert of heavy rainfall during the match day. HPCA media-in charge Mohit Sood informed the Indian press that they have an effective drainage system and in case of rain, the ground would be ready in less than two hours. "The drainage system is effective to drain out rainwater. Also we have water soaking machines and a lightweight plastic cover for covering the entire ground," he said. One of the local restaurant owner Pankaj Chadha said as quoted by the Indian Express, "We are keeping our fingers crossed. The last match between India and South Africa was washed out. If this happens again, this venue will be considered jinxed for the Proteas."
