Cooper Connolly replaces injured Matthew Short ahead of semifinal clash against India

Australia have added young all-rounder Cooper Connolly in place of injured Matthew Short for the semifinals of ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
Cooper Connolly has featured in six international games for Australia of which three have been ODI's. Matthew Short injured his calf while fielding during the clash against Afghanistan in Rawalpindi, in the match where he scored a brisk 20 off 15 balls before rain said its last say and the match was washed out.
"I think he'll be struggling," Australia captain Steve Smith had said of Short's injury status. "I think we saw tonight he wasn't moving very well and I think it's probably going to be too quick between games for him to recover."
Cooper Connolly was Australia's travel reservers and now has been added into the squad as the main member to replace the injured opener.
Connolly featured in six international games for Australia of which three have been ODI's.
Australia squad: Steve Smith (Captain), Sean Abbott, Alex Carey, Cooper Connolly, Ben Dwarshuis, Nathan Ellis, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Aaron Hardie, Travis Head, Josh Inglis (Wicketkeeper), Spencer Johnson, Marnus Labuschagne, Glenn Maxwell, Tanveer Sangha, Adam Zampa.
Australia won one game and both of the other two games were washed out, however they were on the track to clinch the victory against Afghanistan but rain had its last say. And they finished the group stage with 4 points and being the second of the Group B. The Aussies will face India on Tuesday (March 4) in Dubai for the semifinal 1.
