What the seniors could never do in New Zealand, the young Bangladesh team under the leadership of Najmul Hossain Shanto is doing it right. Veteran coach Nazmul Abedin Fahim evaluated Bangladesh’s success in a great Facebook status.
Fahim said, “Congratulations to Shanto and his team for breaking out of this long-cherished negative mindset. This mentality has been nurtured by more or less everyone. That is why our journey has stopped at one place for a long time. Many of those seeking credit today are not out of it. Otherwise, we might have seen this change much earlier.”
Pointing out that individual milestones do not help, Fahim added, "What can be done to win, that's all everyone in the team thinks about. Today's victory is the sum of many pieces of performance. It belongs to the team. It was not easy especially in a place like Napier and against a team like New Zealand. Because for a long time, we were used to such victory only in the familiar environment of the home.”
The country's best cricket coach praised and said, “Today we were brave in selecting the team. Including Mahedi and Rishad as key spinners was not easy. _ What a great reward Mahedi gave for his trust in himself. I believe that Rishad will also develop gradually.”
“After some time I saw Mustafizur doing justice to his name. We may see Sakib try to take maximum advantage of such wickets by bowling wicket-to-wicket instead of going for so much variation in the next match. And I wouldn't be at all surprised if the New Zealand coach takes time to brief his team's batters separately about Shoriful as part of game-planning for the next match.”
