Aussie all-rounder Cameron Green is ruled out of the upcoming high-octane Border-Gavaskar Trophy series after opting to go under the knife for surgery on his back.
Green sustained this lower back injury during the UK tour. Green had two choices and had to pick one, either to go under knives or push himself for rehabilitation, which would allow him to play the BGT as a batter. But Green chose for operation.
Green was Australia's newly named No. 4 batter and he also offered some crucial overs for the Aussies with old ball. But now his absence, will make a vacancy in these places. Now Green's absence at No. 4 will allow Steve Smith to get back to his position and Cricket Australia might need to find another man to fill up the shoes of David Warner at the top of the order.
Cricket Australia will later today name an Australia 'A' squad that would include the likes of Marcus Harris and Cameron Bancroft as well as teenage breakout Sheffield Shield star Sam Konstas, who recently bludgeoned back to back hundreds in the same match. But the selectors are yet to decide if a new opener will be required, since Smith might be moved to his own position of No. 4.
