The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah has announced Team India's big prize money for winning the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

Jay Shah declared an award of Rs 125 crore, more than 600 percent of the Rs 20.4 crore the ICC had set aside for the victors of the T20 World Cup in 2024.

On Sunday, BCCI secretary Jay Shah made the prize money public on social media by saying: “I am pleased to announce prize money of INR 125 Crores for Team India for winning the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. The team has showcased exceptional talent, determination, and sportsmanship throughout the tournament. Congratulations to all the players, coaches, and support staff for this outstanding achievement.”

Jay was incredibly proud of the team's commitment and unwavering spirit. He praised the efforts of important players like Jasprit Bumrah, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma, saying they had helped to realise the dreams of 1.4 billion cricket fans nationwide.

India beat South Africa by 7 runs in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 final to clinch an ICC Trophy after 11 years on Saturday (29th June). They got a hefty amount of prize money from ICC. India were awarded $2.45 million (around BDT 28.75 crore). South Africa received $1.28 million (about BDT 15.02 crore).

Shortly after their historic victory over South Africa in Bridgetown, senior stars Rohit, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja also declared their retirements from the Twenty20 International format.
