In a crucial meeting on Saturday (September 7), several former directors of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) met with newly appointed BCB president Faruque Ahmed and director Nazmul Abedeen Fahim at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.

The meeting, which included former directors who served from 2001 to 2005, saw the former BCB leadership extend their full support to the new board while also demanding a thorough investigation into alleged corruption over the past 17 years.

Led by former BCB vice president Shah Nurul Kabir Shahin, the group included prominent former directors like Kazi Mohiuddin Bulbul, Rafiqul Islam, Abdullah Al Fuad Redowan, Shafiqul Islam, Shahiduzzaman Shohid, Qaiyum Chowdhury, Md. Zahid Hossain, Asaduzzaman and Sports Development Council member Abdul Mazid. They discussed the future of Bangladesh cricket and pledged their support for the new administration.

In an informal discussion after the meeting, BCB president Faruque shared his vision for the future, while the former directors assured him of their cooperation. Shah Nurul Kabir Shaheen said, "We have been involved with cricket for a long time, and we remain committed to supporting the BCB president in every possible way."

However, Qaiyum Chowdhury, one of the former directors, raised concerns about the rampant corruption that allegedly took place over the last 17 years, urging the current board to investigate and release a report detailing how the corruption occurred. "We were forced to resign, and since then, there has been widespread corruption. We demand a thorough investigation," he said.

This meeting highlights the willingness of former BCB directors to collaborate for the betterment of Bangladesh cricket while simultaneously calling for accountability within the board.
