A "change to his No-Objection Certificate (NOC) conditions" has resulted in Afghanistan spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman being excluded from the next Big Bash League match between Melbourne Renegades and Melbourne Stars, which is scheduled to take place on Tuesday.

The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has sanctioned Mujeeb, along with fast bowlers Naveen-ul-Haq and Fazalhaq Farooqi, after they expressed a wish to be excluded from the central contracts list for 2024. Mujeeb was also one of the players who had expressed this desire. One of the consequences was that the three individuals would not be allowed to participate in Twenty20 leagues for the next two years, and any NOCs that they presently held would be revoked.

In a new statement that was released today by Melbourne Renegades, it was said that "Mujeeb Ur Rahman has been removed from the squad after a change to his NOC conditions made him unavailable for the match."

Since that time, Naveen and Farooqi have addressed the ACB, and according to the board, they have "demonstrated a strong desire to represent their country once more." Mujeeb was not included in Afghanistan's 18-man squad for the Twenty20 International series that is currently being played against the United Arab Emirates. The pair were subsequently selected in the squad.
