Sri Lanka have thumped Bangladesh with a six-wicket victory in the first T20I at Shere Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Mirpur. Four Bangladeshi players made their debut. The opening pair of Zakir Hasan and Soumya Sarkar gave the hosts a flying start. 17 runs came in the first over off debutant Shehan Madushanka. The pair added 49 runs in 4 overs. Debutant Zakir made 10 off 9. Bangladesh scored 71 runs in the powerplay. Soumya continued his merry way with Mushfiqur Rahim in 51-run partnership. Soumya brought up his maiden T20I fifty in 30 balls. But he was given lbw off Jeevan Mendis by playing a reverse shot. Soumya played an entertaining knock of 51 runs from 32 deliveries including 6 fours and 2 sixes. Debutant Afif Hossain was caught behind on his second ball off Jeevan. The pressure was slightly back on the Tigers. Bangladesh reached 100 runs within first 10 overs. Two senior statesmen - skipper Mahmudullah Riyad and Mushfiqur - handled the next half of the innings. They put on 73 runs for the fourth-wicket. Mahmudullah departed scoring a handy 31-ball 43 with 2 fours and 2 sixes. Mushfiqur reached his second half-century as he remained unbeaten for 66 runs off 44 balls hitting 7 fours and a six. Bangladesh posted their highest T20 total 193/5 in 20 overs. In reply, Sri Lankan openers Kusal Mendis and Danushka Gunathilaka hammered Bangladeshi bowlers at the top. They put on 53 in 4.5 overs. Debutant Nazmul Islam got his maiden wicket as Gunathilaka was stumped for 15-ball 30. Sri Lanka scored 67 runs in the powerplay. Fast bowlers went for plenty  Kusal took the charge after Gunathilaka's dismissal. He raced to a maiden half-century in 25 balls. Afif sent him back in the eighth over. Kusal smashed 53 off 27 including 7 fours and 3 sixes. Upul Tharanga got out soon to Nazmul. Niroshan Dickwella fell to Rubel Hossain for 11. Dasun Shanaka and Thisara Perera brutally hurt Bangladesh then on. Their unbroken 65-run stand took Sri Lanka to a victory in 16.4 overs. It's their highest-ever T20I chase. Shanaka scored 42 off 24 with 3 fours and 3 sixes. Thisara hammered 3 maximums and 4 fours in his 18-ball 39*.
