Just before going to Sri Lanka to participate in the Nidahas Trophy, Bangladesh interim head coach Courtney Andrew Walsh showcased the hard reality saying his team would start the tournament as an ‘underdog.’ 'Will welcome Champaka with open arms'

In the set press briefing after ending the two day practice session at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka, it was only the coach of Bangladesh who appeared before the media; later it has been known that regular captain Shakib Al Hasan has ruled out of the forthcoming tournament. "Although I think we will have a very good opportunity over there but Bangladesh is going to be an underdog," Walsh said in the briefing. "We are going to face two strong teams. If we will be able to exhibit consistent performance, I think we could reach in the final; then it will be an one match affair. Hope the cricketers will show up up to their potentials, could perform steadily," he said. Therefore, Courtney Walsh, reminded Bangladesh's marginal success in T20I cricket in contrast of bulk of failures in the shortest version of the game. He said, "In the last Sri Lanka tour, we won a single T20I match, I can clearly remember that was the last T20I match for Mashrafe Bin Mortaza. We will try to revive ourselves, concentrate on playing good cricket, the like we played over there once. We will just try to go forward with one match at a time." Bangladesh will fly to Colombo on 1 pm Bangladesh Standard Time on Sunday.
