Pakistan asserted their dominance on day two of the Rawalpindi Test, leaving Bangladesh trailing by a massive 421 runs at the close of play. After two outstanding centuries from Saud Shakeel and Mohammad Rizwan, Pakistan declared their first innings at an imposing 448 runs. Bangladesh, in response, ended the day at 27 without loss.

Saud Shakeel played a remarkable innings, scoring 141, while Mohammad Rizwan remained unbeaten on 171, guiding Pakistan to a commanding total. As the day drew to a close, Bangladesh’s openers managed to survive the last 12 overs, scoring 27 runs without losing a wicket.

At the post-day press conference, Bangladesh’s batting coach, David Hemp, expressed his satisfaction with how the team handled the late challenge. "I'm very pleased with the way they negotiated the last 12 overs. It can be a challenging time when you have to bat last half an hour for an hour of the day's play, especially when you've been in the field all day with the weather the way it was. But for us, it's the manner in which they play. So they were positive with the front work and that That's exactly what we wanted. So still looking to score, even though obviously you want to be a disciplined as tight as you can.”

Hemp added, “It was a good decoration, an attacking decoration, which I would expect. So it didn't catch us as a surprise. Certainly trying to get wickets to the back end of the day. So I thought that was a positive move from them. Yeah, for us, it's about certainly batting tomorrow and then see where we are going into day 4 and five. There's still a lot of cricket to be played. So priority for us is to make sure that we bat the day tomorrow, see where we're at. If we're in a good position, then can we go past Pakistan or at least get as close as we possibly can and then just see what happens. We did see that the odd We'll start the grip of it, but it's still from a distance looks like it's a decent batting wicket.”

Acknowledging the threat posed by Pakistan’s pace attack, Hemp added, "Pakistan have four good seamers and a reasonable spinner. They have bowling options. They are a good attack. It is going to be a challenge. The priority is to bat the day. We have to negotiate each session, and then see where we are.”
