In the last ball thrill, Bangladesh was beaten by India in the final of the Asia Cup 2018.

Once again, Bangladesh geared full to reach into the final of a multi nation tournament and once again they heartbreakingly failed to hold the nerve to win the last laugh. Like the fresh memories of failing to clinch the trophy in the Nidahas Trophy 2018 final against India and the tri-nation series final against Sri Lanka, the Tigers were defeated by 3 wickets against India in the just concluded Unimoni Asia Cup 2018 final in Dubai. Bangladesh head coach Steve Rhodes, despite the all odds, remains optimistic about the team, ushers believes that the team is not far away to cross the hurdle. "I am not too worried about the past. I think we are not very far from achieving it [winning a tournament]. Once we do that it will give us that mental space where we can think and successfully overcome the pressure [of final]," Rhodes told. "Winning tournaments is like a habit,” he said. The psychological barrier would be uplifted soon, he believes, with delivering the positive outcomes of the recent big tournament. "There were lot of positives like the way Litton batted in the final or Mithun getting two 60-odd scores or Mehedi trying to establish himself as an all-rounder." Rhodes said. Young wicket keeper batsman Litton Kumar Das, opening the innings for the team, scored a splendid century to make a solid foundation for rest of the batsmen which they failed to capitalize afterwards. "Our spinners and pace bowlers bowled well while we were clinical as a fielding unit on quite a few occasions. Overall we could have a good look at our squad and playing without Shakib and Tamim and going this far is quite remarkable," the 54 year old coach added.
