Sri Lanka thrashed New Zealand by 140 runs to have a consolation victory to end the tour. Fifties from Pathum Nissanka, Janith Liyanage and wicketkeeper batter Kusal Mendis have helped Sri Lanka get to 290 on the board. In reply, Asitha Fernando, Maheesh Theekshana and Eshan Malinga combined a bowling masterclass to hand Sri Lanka a massive victory.

Opting to bat first, Sri Lanka had a fine start, adding 61 runs to their opening stand before Avishka Fernando's departure to Nathan Smith. But other opener Pathum Nissanka brought up a fine fifty before falling to Mitchell Santner on 66 off 42 deliveries.

After the fall of Santner, Kusal Mendis and Kamindu Mendis forged a superb stand together, stitching a fine 87 runs stand to keep Sri Lanka steer the ship.

Sri Lanka lost wickets in a cluster in the middle order but Janith Liyanage stood tall for the visitors, he smashed a crispy 53 off just 52 deliveries and help his side get to 290 on the board.

In reply, Maheesh Theekshana and Asitha Fernando ran riot together as they dismantled the entire New Zealand top order and left them crumbling on 21-5.

But Mark Chapman stoo tall and he single handedly was steering Kiwis hope, he made an excellent 81 off only 81 deliveries and helped New Zealand get 150 on the board.

Asitha Fernando, Maheesh Theekshana and Eshan Malinga shared three wickets each as Sri Lanka claimed a massive 140 runs victory.
