Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) had earlier announced that the two T20I matches between Asia XI and World XI will be held on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Asia XI squad confirmed, uncertainty over Kohli's participation

It was said that the two matches would be held between March 18 to 22. However, the matches will be held on March 21 and 22. Although the schedule is finalized, the BCB has not yet made any decision about the uncertainty of the players. It is not yet certain whether India captain Virat Kohli will be available for Asia XI. BCB President Nazmul Hassan Papon said on Sunday, March 8 that he was still unsure of some of the World XI cricketers, although Asia XI was finalized for the match between Asia XI and the World XI. However, the team is fairly confirmed. "Asia XI have been finalized," Papon said. “I got the list perfectly. There are 11 players in the World XI right now, 3 or 4 more players will make it 15. We’re waiting for Australian players. Other countries are fairly final. PSL (Pakistan Super League) is going on, so hopefully we can finish within 1-2 days. We want cricketers to come from all countries, players from Australia as well. And that's why we're waiting. But 11 players have been confirmed.” On the other hand, there had a talk about Kohli’s playing in a match for Asia XI. However, the BCB had yet to make a final decision on the matter. On this, BCB President said,

"Confusion is taking place with Virat Kohli. Rahul (Lokesh Rahul) will play a match on March 22. And the rest - Shikhar Dhawan, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammad Shami and Rishabh Pant will all play both matches. KL Rahul will play one match. There was another thing, trying to play Virat Kohli. We’re still talking about this since we did not have confirmation, I cannot say for sure. Rahul will play surely. This confirmation has come."
