Former Bangladesh captain Mohammad Ashraful supports Stuart Law’s statement and shows the reasons behind this with an exclusive interview with BDCricTime.

Speaking to Al Jazeera Law said, “Bangladesh haven't moved forward in 25 years. Whatever they have been doing hasn't worked, and they need to find out what needs to happen to make them tick. Maybe it is time to sit back and think, 'This is the way we have been doing it, it hasn't been working, we haven't moved forward – maybe we need to do it slightly differently.’ That's not talking down the current administration, but they need to look at all aspects of the game.”

Ashraful believes that Law's opinion is a result of Bangladesh's limited-overs failure in ICC competitions. "Look at the results of ICC events, we are stuck in the same place.  Teams like Kenya played in the semi-finals. Sri Lanka became world champions, played finals 3-4 times. If you think like that, we should have played better in ICC events in 24 years of Test status,” Ashraful said in an interview to BDCricTime.

Ashraful claims that despite Bangladesh's performance in the 2007 ODI and T20 World Cups, the upward trend was not sustained. “At that time it seemed that cricket was progressing. After 2007, there was no good performance in the T20 World Cup. Beating Netherlands and Zimbabwe in the last World Cup was our biggest achievement. Thinking about these things, Law said that as a Test nation, cricket did not spread the way it should have. Stuart Law was head coach of the national team in 2012, most recently he was the coach of the U19 team. Looking at our culture, the recent loss to the United States, all of this may have felt like that to him,” he added.
