The BCCI announced on October 25 that it has appointed Amol Muzumdar as the new head coach of the Indian women's cricket team. Muzumdar said he is excited about the role as head coach of the women's team.

The Cricket Advisory Committee comprising Sulakshana Naik, Ashok Malhotra and Jatin Paranjape interviewed the shortlisted candidates for the position of head coach of the Indian women's team and after thorough and careful deliberations, the three-member committee unanimously recommended Amol Muzumdar to take up the role .

The BCCI confirmed Muzumdar's appointment to the post on October 25 after the post remained vacant for 10 months following the dismissal of Ramesh Powar as part of the restructuring.

Amol Muzumdar, a star of Indian cricket, has been appointed by the BCCI as the new head coach of the senior women's team. This announcement was made on October 25, 2023. Born on November 11, 1974, Muzumdar was a right-handed batsman who had an illustrious career in first-class cricket, scoring 11,167 runs in 171 matches.

Despite his impressive record, he was never selected for the Indian national team, largely due to the presence of cricket legends such as Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman during his heyday.

The next two years are extremely important as two World Cups are scheduled during this period.
