West Indies have beaten Bangladesh by 4 wickets to cleansweep the visitors on Thursday (December 12) in St. Kitts. Some superb knocks from the Bangladeshi batters helped them get to a competitive 321 on the board. In reply, Amir Jangoo's unbeaten 104* off just 83 deliveries and Keacy Carty's 95 aided the hosts chase down the total.
Being asked to bat first, Bangladesh lost Tanzid Hasan Tamim on a five-ball duck to Alzarri Joseph. While he drew another blood by removing Litton Das on a two-ball duck this time as Bangladesh were in all sorts of trouble. However, Soumya Sarkar and stand-in skipper Mehidy Hasan Miraz have stitched an excellent partnership, building up 136 runs stand in a quicktime before Gudakesh Motie trapped Soumya for LBW on his 73 ball 73.
However, Miraz too fell soon after, on a run-out, scoring 77 off 73 deliveries. At the backend of the innings, veteran batter Mahmudullah Riyad and a rising youngster Jaker Ali Anik have found groove together for a blistering partnership. The duo stood tall and smashed the Caribbeans for a swashbuckling 150* runs stand off only 117 balls. Mahmudullah was unbeaten on 84* off 63 deliveries, while Jaker Ali made 62* off 57 balls as Bangladesh finished their innings on a high on 321-5.
In reply, West Indies were off to a poor start as they lost three quick wickets inside 31. And then Keacy Carty and Sherfane Rutherford stitched a 50-run stand together but the latter's departure on 30 pushed the hosts on the back foot again.
But Carty and debutant Amir Jangoo got together and both of them played with a lot of flair and good tempo. The duo added 134 runs, while both of them notching up their respective fifties as well. The partnership between them brought the hosts roaring back into the contest.
Rishad struck to get rid of Carty five short of his hundred, Chase too fell cheaply as the visitors were finding their hope. But Motie played the perfect second fiddle role for Jangoo. The debutant Amir Jangoo struck a terrific century on debut as he steered his side home to make the ODI series 3-0.
