The West Indies pacer Alzarri Joseph has been fined for breaching ICC Code of Conduct during the first One Day International against Bangladesh on Sunday in St. Kitts.

An incident took place before the start of play, where Joseph used offensive language during an exchange with the fourth umpire.

The umpire had asked Joseph to avoid stepping onto the pitch with his spikes on. But he didn't listen to the umpire and used offensive language.

As a result, Joseph has been found to have violated Article 2.3 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which narrates to the “use of an audible obscenity.”

Joseph has also received one demerit point, which is his second offence in the 24-month period.

However, the sanction has been accepted by Joseph as he admitted his offence and agreed to the penalty.

Australia's ace batter Travis Head and India's paceman Mohammad Siraj too have been fined in this week. Along the duo, Joseph has been fined this week.

Despite Joseph's fine, the West Indies beat Bangladesh in the first ODI comprehensively to go 1-0 ahead in the three-match ODI series. Swashbuckling hundred from Sherfane Rutherford and a captain's knock from Shai Hope helped them mark the victory.
