San Francisco Unicorns have crashed Los Angeles Knight Riders by 6 wickets on Monday (8th July) at Grand Prierie View Stadium. Shakib's [35 off 26] cameo and Russell's [40 off 25] blitz helped LAKR post 165 on the board. But Fin Allen and Matthew Short from San Francisco Unicorns teared them apart and chased down the total with 5 overs to spare and 6 wickets in hands.
After losing quick wickets at the top, Shakib Al Hasan stood tall for LAKR as he saw a flurry of boundaries to charge the opposition and put some pressure on them. Shakib departed after scoring 35 off 26 deliveries before Russell took the onus.
Andre Russell hammered a 40 off just 25, including 2 boundaries and 3 sixes to help LAKR post a competitive 165 on the board.
In reply, Jake Fraser-McGurk fell to Aussie speedster Spencer Johnson but Fin Allen teed off against Russell and Shakib at the backend of the powerplay. Since then, there was no respite for the bowlers as Fin Allen and Matthew Short depicted a mammoth 116 run stand which sealed the game for San Francisco Unicorns.
Allen made an excellent 63 off only 37 deliveries and Short bludgeoned for 58 off just 26 deliveries.
San Francisco Unicorns started the campaign very well by sledgehammering Los Angeles Knight Riders by 6 wickets and 28 balls to spare.
