The Superman AB de Villiers (71 off 29) and his partner in onslaught Hashim Amla (69 off 38, not out) paved the way for a Proteas victory over England in the second T20 international at the Wanderers to win the series 2-0. [See full scorecard of this match]

The visiting English side lost their last seven wickets for 14 runs after they had looked set to post a total in excess of 200. English skipper Eoin Morgan and Jos Buttler seemed in total control, hitting four sixes apiece in a fourth wicket stand of 96 off 55 balls.

But the collapse started when Buttler hit the third ball of the 17th over from Kyle Abbott into the covers where South African captain Faf du Plessis held a low catch, which had to be confirmed by the television umpire. Buttler made 54 off 28 balls with four fours and four sixes.

After England had posted 171 all out in their innings, both De Villiers and Amla batted with attacking intent, never letting the bowlers settle at any opportunity.

England captain, Eoin Morgan tried to stem the flow, using a wide variety of his bowling arsenal, but De Villiers (71 off 29 balls, 6x4, 6x6) and Amla (69* off 38 balls, 8x4, 3x6) were unrelenting in their partnership of 125 in just 8.2 overs.

De Villiers eventually fell, caught in the deep of Adil Rashid, but the damage had been done with the Proteas cruising home to win by 9 wickets.

This win gave the Proteas their fifth successive victory against England in limited-overs cricket in less than a fortnight to destroy so much of the good work produced in winning the Test series and taking a 2-0 one-day lead.

Now England will head to India and the World Twenty20 next month with their confidence severely dented by a South Africa side who, for all their transition at Test level, remain a formidable limited-overs force.
