Sylhet Strikers beat Khulna Tigers by 8 runs on Sunday (January 12) at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, Sylhet. Zakir Hasan's swashbuckling 75* and superb bowling from Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Reece Topley and Ruyel Miah handed Sylhet Strikers a thrilling 8 runs victory.


Being inserted to bat first, Sylhet Strikers found themselves in big trouble, losing their openers Rakhim Cornwall and George Munsey cheaply. But Rony Talukder and wicketkeeper batter Zakir Hasan forged an excellent partnership together, adding a huge 106 runs under their belt off only 62 deliveries, whereas Rony scored 56 off 44 balls and Zakir smashed a blistering 75 off just 46 deliveries, including six sixes and three boundaries to his name.

At the backend of the innings, Ariful Haque played a little cameo and made 21* off 13 balls to help his side get to a massive 182 on the board.

In reply, Tanzim Hasan Sakib and Reece Topley combined a superb opening spell to reduce Khulna Tigers to 47-3. William Bosisto stood up and made a gritty knock of 43 off 40 deliveries before falling to Topley.

Bosisto did hold the Khulna's innings but couldn’t make any impact as the target was massive to chase down. Mohammad Nawaz smashed a bit and raced to 33 off 18 balls but departed to Tanzim Hasan Sakib.

Mahidul Islam Ankon too tried something special to do single handedly as he got support from Abu Hider Rony as well. The duo added 35 runs off only 14 deliveries but last over heroic from Ruyel Miah has helped Sylhet defend 20 runs off the last over and hand the Strikers eight-run win.
