West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder remarked that the team's victory over Australia in January reignited his ambition to play in the Test format.

Holder was one of the noticeable exclusions when the West Indies elected to send a depleted squad to Australia earlier this year, turning down a central contract to fulfill a lucrative agreement with Dubai Capitals in the ILT20 tournament. West Indies lost the first Test but recovered to win the second Test and square the two-match series 1-1.

"I was so happy for the boys when they did what they did in Australia. It gave me a renewed energy to come back to the group and be a part of something special again. I have missed Test cricket, and I am looking forward to it," Holder said.

West Indies' two-match red-ball series against England begins on Wednesday at the Lord's, with the goal of winning their first Test match there since 1988. Holder continued by highlighting the significance of building on their momentous victory in Australia. With the caliber and talent that the West Indies now have, Holder is certain that his team will write history once more.

"It's important [to build on Australia]. I think the guys took a lot from that. We are coming out to win this series. We have some special talent in the dressing room. It's just about playing solid cricket and having belief. We have been doing some really positive things for the last couple of months, and as a young side the main thing is to keep learning," he added.

"We won one Test last time and are looking to take it further, and two would be a lot better on this trip. There is no better time for us to beat England than now. I think that would be a great feat and nothing this team is short of.”
