After a tough tour of India, Bangladesh will return home without a win, having lost both the Test and T20I series. The T20I series, in particular, was a major disappointment, with India securing a clean 3-0 sweep. Bangladesh struggled in all departments, and their final match was a reflection of their struggles, falling to a heavy 133-run defeat.
Towhid Hridoy, who remained one of the few bright spots for Bangladesh with his 63* off 42 balls, spoke candidly in the post-match press conference. Hridoy admitted the team failed to perform with both the bat and the ball but highlighted the key learning points from the series.
"The pitch was good for batting, but we didn't bowl well," Hridoy shared. "There’s room for improvement, and we hope to develop further in these areas."
He also stressed the importance of collective improvement, not just in bowling but across all aspects of their game. "We didn’t perform well as a group – in batting, bowling, or fielding. India batted brilliantly today, and we missed several opportunities to execute better. These are lessons we must learn and improve on."
Hridoy specifically pointed out the lack of runs from the top order as a recurring issue, saying, "If the top order delivers, it becomes easier to post big scores like 180 or 200. It’s essential for the top four to step up, but the middle and lower orders must also contribute. We have plenty of areas to work on."
Facing a dominant team like India has revealed Bangladesh’s gaps, but Hridoy remains optimistic about the future. "India is a high-standard team, and they’ve shown their strength in their conditions. But I don’t think we’re far behind. We have faced big teams before, and there are aspects we can improve, especially in terms of executing our skills on flat wickets. We will get better, Insha’Allah."
